    Here is some better information on bi-pin sizing

    Posted by Patrick B on Jan 13th 2025

    Bulb is working so far, no complaints on bulb performance. I wanted to throw out some info so you don't make the same mistake I did. I ordered the wrong bi-pin size. My reading lamp has a GY8 base and I originally ordered a GY6.35 base, of course my lamp says "50w type JDC or smaller bulb" I'm thinking that meant JDC was going to solve my bulb sizing issue, Anywho, here is some better information on bi-pin sizing;
    Using the coins as thickness gauges, they may be combined as follows in order to determine which combination will fit nicely between the pins of the mystery bulb:

    (1) nickel and (1) dime = G4 base

    (2) nickels = G5.3 base

    (3) quarters = GY6.35 base

    (4) quarters = GY8 base**

    **GY8 has always been 8.6 spacing. Only recently have some retailers taken to marking their products 8.6 in order to trick customers into thinking that GY8 differs from 8.6. It does not; and even if it did, 0.6mm difference in spacing would not matter in the fit of a bulb in a socket.

    ALSO; I DID KNOW NOT TO TOUCH THE BULB WITH MY SKIN ! The oil from your skin will create a hot spot on the glass causing a premature failure. I hope this helps, it was a $6 lesson. Just need to find a lamp that needs my spare GY6.35 bulb.

    Cheaper than GE brand, fits fine!

    Posted by Josh on Jan 13th 2025

    This works in my GE gas oven, and was much cheaper than the "official" recommended GE bulb. I can't speak to how long it lasts, but I have been using it about a month and no problems.

    The Perfect Solution for our desk lamp

    Posted by Louis on Jan 13th 2025

    This bulb replaces the original one in a gooseneck desk lamp. The lens was easy to remove to access the bulb. I took the bad bulb out and put this 50 Watt Halogen in. Got the lens back in place and we're good to go. The lamp's rotating on/off button is also a variable dimmer. The bulb cooperates nicely and serves as a barely-on night light all the way to a bright reading lamp. This purchase worked out so well I consider it one of those small life's pleasures.
